Ursula D. Anderson-Adams has been named the new program coordinator for Phillis Wheatley Community Center. A native of Gaffney, South Carolina, she has a decade of professional experience in the nonprofit sector.

“Phillis Wheatley has such a strong legacy of providing programming that creates opportunities and helps the community thrive,” said Anderson-Adams. “I am so excited to expand and strengthen our offerings for the community from birth through retirement.”

Most recently Anderson-Adams filled several roles at the Kroc Center in Greenville, including membership lead, volunteer coordinator, education director, and program site coordinator for the Boys and Girls Club. Before her time at the Kroc Center, she worked as the program director at the Salvation Army Corp in Spartanburg.

“We are thrilled to welcome Ursula to the Phillis Wheatley family,” said Randy Jackson, executive director of Phillis Wheatley Community Center. “She has hit the ground running and will take our programming to new heights.”

Anderson-Adams is a certified senior fitness instructor and a certified dance coach. She is also an International Dance Commision member, teacher, and national Flag Coordinator. She currently owns her own non-profit dance organization called Grace Dance UPstate Ministries. This fall, she will present to the Congressional Black Caucus about making Liturgical Dance Day into law.

Anderson-Adams is a published author and involved in many community organizations, but mostly she loves God, her husband, children and family. She is married to Ron Demetrius Adams and is a mother to two sons and two stepsons. Her son Elijah has medically complex needs and requires long-term care. Elijah inspired Anderson-Adams’s early career in the medical field. She has an associate’s degree in medical terminology and medical assistant from Virginia College and is a certified medical assistant and phlebotomist.
