Library
Home to one of the first library for African Americans in Greenville County, education has long been a core value of the Phillis Wheatley Community Center and reestablishing the library was a top priority after the Grand Reopening of the Center. From generous donations of books and furnishings from area schools, private collections, and local businesses, the library reopened in November of 2021.
Though times have changed a bit since the early 1900’s, the library at PWCC remains a place for reflection and quiet learning. But with the addition of modern technology, it has been transformed into a space where you are as likely to find participants from our Senior Social streaming on-line exercise classes as you are to find a volunteer helping a child learn to read.
Learning Lab
The Learning Lab at Phillis Wheatley Community Center is a place for students to both learn and play. There are desks and computers in addition to air hockey and video games. Come do your homework and have some fun!

Basketball
On Tuesdays, Phillis Wheatley Community Center hosts open gym basketball. In addition to being great exercise, basketball can serve as a great catalyst for developing meaningful friendships.
This program is administered by Eleos, a neighborhood-focused ministry, working with middle and high school students in the Nicholtown community.
