The Phillis Wheatley Community Center inducted Clyde Mayes, John McCarroll, Xanthene Norris and Richard W. Riley into the center’s Hall of Fame at a luncheon event on October 16, 2023. The Hall of Fame Champions were selected for their extraordinary leadership and contributions to the community over many years.

Eleven local youth had the opportunity to learn ballet at Phillis Wheatley Community Center over the summer. Instructors from International Ballet provided two free ballet classes per week at the center for seven weeks.

Come out to Furman University in July for Jay Jackson’s All-Star Baseball Camp! Athletes ages 6 and up will sharpen their baseball skills with a professional on a college campus July 10 – 12th.

A new space for youth is now open at the Phillis Wheatley Community Center in Greenville, South Carolina. Located adjacent to the Center’s library, the Learning Lab is designed for study and play with desk seating and Chromebooks for six, an air hockey table and other games.

Three new members were named to the Phillis Wheatley Community Center Board of Directors. Each new member will serve a three-year term. The Board recognized outgoing Chair Ray Lattimore for his dedicated service.
